Bobcat Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America® Third Team

Grout is only the second Texas State soccer player to be named an Academic All-American, joining Sarah Buchrucker (2002).

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior midfielder Rachel Grout was selected to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Division I women’s soccer third team on Thursday morning.

The Dallas native earned the prestigious honor with a 3.97 cumulative GPA and will be graduating in May with a degree in industrial engineering.

She helped lead the Bobcats to a second place finish in the Sun Belt Conference regular season from the attacking midfield position this fall. Grout netted eight goals, was credited with six assists and totaled 22 points, all tying for the most on the team. In matches that she found the back of the net, TXST was 7-0, scored at least three goals each time and averaged 3.4 goals per match.

The first team All-Sun Belt Conference honoree finished the year tied for 72nd in the nation with 1.29 points per match. She also led Texas State with a 27.6 shot percentage and 55.2 shots on goal percentage.

For her career, Grout finished 10th in Bobcat history with 43 points and tied for 10th with 16 goals. Six of her scores were match-winners to tie her for the seventh most in program history.
