Bobcats Play Annual Maroon-Gold Spring Game Saturday

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State fans have their first chance to see a new chapter in Texas State football when Whataburger presents the annual Maroon-Gold Spring Game at Bobcat Stadium on April 9 beginning at noon.

 

Admission to the game is free and open to the public. Everyone is asked to park in Lots 1-3 on the west side of the stadium and may enter the stadium in Gates 1 and 2 beginning at 11 a.m.
This year’s game features the offensive players squaring off against the defensive players in eight different segments.
The scoring system for the game has the offense receiving six points for a touchdown with an extra-point attempt to follow, three points for a field goal, one point for crossing the 50-yard line, one point for a first down and three points for a first down during the backed-up segment of the game.

 
The defense scores seven points for a touchdown, four points for a fumble recovery or an interception, three points after forcing a three-downs-and-out, one point if the defense forces a punt before the offense crosses the 50-yard line and three points for forcing a field goal attempt in the Red Zone.

 

Student Appreciation Day

 

The Bobcats are inviting Texas State students with their student ID to watch the game on the field in a designated area or on the team’s bench area with Bobcat players. Following the game, students are invited to eat lunch with the members of the football team as the Athletics Department will provide hot dogs, pizza and water to the students.

 

Radio Broadcasts

 

The Maroon-Gold game will be carried live on KTSW (89.9 FM) with Brant Freeman calling the play-by-play and Bill Culhane serving as the analyst. The broadcast begins with a 15-minute pregame show and concludes with a 15-minute postgame show.

 

Fan Activities for the Game

 

In addition to the Texas State students participating in “Student Appreciation Day”, there are plenty of pregame and postgame activities for all fans to enjoy throughout the day. Prior to the game, fans may tailgate in Lot 1 on the west side of Bobcat Stadium.

 
Fans have the opportunity to tour the Dan and Cindee Diepenhorst Family Champions Club Level and Legacy Suites level of the Jerry and Linda Gregg Fields West Side Complex at 12:30 p.m. The tour begins by the elevator on the concourse level.

 
Bobcat Club members can watch the game from the Bobcat Pavilion in the southwest corner of the stadium.
Fans also can purchase Bobcat memorabilia and clothing at the Fan Shop and visit the Strutters Gallery to view the history of the world-renowned Texas State Strutters beginning at 11 a.m.

 
In addition, the Kids Fun Zone will feature inflatable bounce houses, a train ride, face painting, balloon twister and an animal petting zone. The Kids Fun Zone will be located behind the south end zone and opens at 11 a.m.
After the game, fans can get autographs of selected players.

 

2016 Season Tickets and Select A Seat

 

Bobcat fans will have the opportunity to purchase season tickets, or change and select new seats for the upcoming 2016 season beginning at 11 a.m. Athletic Ticket Office staff will be on site to answer any questions or to help fans pick out the best available seats. Several seats will be marked for fans to choose. Fans just need to present the seat ID card to the ticket office personnel to purchase the seats for games this fall.

 
Texas State plays six home games next season and football season tickets are on sale now for as little as $80.  The Bobcats begin their 2016 season at Ohio on Sept. 3 and at Arkansas on Sept. 17 before returning to Bobcat Stadium for their first two home games against Houston on Sept. 24 and Incarnate Word on Oct. 1. The Bobcats also play four Sun Belt Conference home games against UL Lafayette on Oct. 22, Idaho on Nov. 12, Troy on Nov. 26 and Arkansas State on Dec. 3.
