Kyle PD Arrest Two For Burglary Of Vehicle In Plum Creek

Kyle, TX – Kyle Police arrested two individuals early yesterday morning for burglary of a vehicle in the Plum Creek neighborhood.

Deric Christenson Munoz, 19, and Jacob Mendiola, 18, were arrested after police sought a search warrant for their involvement in stealing items from vehicles in Plum Creek. Mendiola was also charged with DWI. Both are from Buda. Munoz was also arrested on June 11 for public intoxication in Plum Creek.

Stolen items from June 13 include an iPhone and a Guitar.

KPD Chief Jeff Barnett said, “Video evidence showed two male subjects entering the homeowners vehicle. Our officers identified one of the subjects as Deric Christenson Munoz, who was arrested a few days earlier.”

Barnett said these latest arrests present another opportunity to remind Kyle residents to lock their vehicles, garage doors and homes at all times.

“These burglars look for easy targets, such as vehicles that are unlocked or where they see items of potential value within easy reach,” he said. “We will continue to catch those who do wrong, however everyone can play a part in minimizing their opportunity.”

Barnett said KPD officers have increased their patrols in neighborhoods over the past several months. He complimented the overnight shift that he said was instrumental in making the arrests of Munoz and Mendiola on June 13.

He added his thanks to community residents for their continued vigilance and for calling in tips and information. Barnett encouraged Kyle-ites to call police if they see any suspicious activity. The non-emergency number, which is staffed 24 hours a day, is 512-262-3232.

“Always call 911 if you are experiencing an emergency,” he said.
