Are You And Your Sweetie In Need Of A Unique Valentine Date?

When you think of Valentine’s Day what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it love? Romance? A nice dinner? Snuggling? How about San Marcos? That’s right San Marcos. This city has a lot to offer couples this Valentine’s Day that goes beyond the standard date night of dinner and a movie. Here are some fun and unique San Marcos Valentine’s date ideas for you and your special someone.

For the Love of the Game

Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, meaning you and beau not only have all night but all day to celebrate. What better way to celebrate 24 hours of love then spicing things up with a little competition? Like to golf? There are three here in town. Are you a lover of baseball? Then why not hit up (no pun intended) one of San Marcos’ batting cages and see who can hit the fastest balls.  Are indoor sports more your thing? Then why not head to Sunset Bowling and enjoy a few rounds of drinks and bowling.

Spread the Love

What better way to spend a day celebrating love than by volunteering? Many nonprofit organizations in San Marcos are in need of volunteers especially around holidays, and Valentine’s Day is no exception. Southside Community Center is always in need of helping hands during the dinner rush. If interested in providing a dinner meal then make sure to call the shelter’s managers to set a date.

Nothing says puppy love than by volunteering at the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter. What could be more fun than spending Valentine’s Day playing and helping out adorable animals with your sweetie? The shelter does require an hour volunteer orientation before working with the animals, so make sure to sign up before Valentine’s Day.

Love is a Battlefield

Want to make sure you and your valentine are ready for the zombie apocalypse? Practice your survival skills while by playing a friendly game of paintball. Lost Paintball in San Marcos provides the supplies and the space to safely duke it out with your valentine while having a good time. If money is an issue, get some Nerf guns then set up a course in your own backyard and have at it!

Neighborly Love

If the desire to leave San Marcos this Valentine’s Day is strong then why not jump in the car and take a quick trip down Ranch Road 12. Valentine’s Day happens to fall on Wimberley’s Second Saturday. Wimberley’s Second Saturday is a self-guided walking tour, maps are provided at each of the 15 shops, that includes food, drinks, and art at each location. Some of the shops also include demonstrations like glassblowing from Wimberley Glass Works. Wimberley’s Second Saturday starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 7, no reservations are required.

Home is Where the Heart Is

If dealing with the crowds isn’t on your Valentine’s Day bucket list, then stay home this year and kick it old school with a blanket fort and maybe a game or movie night. Order in from one of many great eateries in town and don’t forget to pick up a great bottle of wine from one of our local wineries and have a picnic on the living room floor. Play tennis on the Wii, or go old school and break out the twister board. If you want to spice things up try adding a strip rule to these games. Just make sure to close the curtains!

How about your worst ever?

We’ve all had those terrible Valentine Day Dates, you know what I mean, and don’t pretend you don’t. The one that crosses mind makes me shutter at even the very thought….scary!!

Why not tell us about your worst Valentine’s Day experiences? To protect the innocent, no names or pictures…..
