Burn Ban Lifted For Unincorporated Areas Of Hays County

“Make sure you have a water source available, and your fire should always be attended by a responsible adult,” he said.

Hays County Courthouse, TX – The Hays County Commissioners Court on July 10 lifted the burn ban for unincorporated areas of Hays County.

Fire Marshal Clint Browning said that widespread rain in the County has made it safe for outdoor burning “for a while, at least.” He said he will continue to monitor the drought index and consult with area fire department chiefs to determine when the ban might need to be placed in effect again.

Browning urged residents to take precautions when burning outdoors.

“Make sure you have a water source available, and your fire should always be attended by a responsible adult,” he said. “Too often fires are left unattended and are out of control before anyone realizes it.”

Additional information about outdoor burning rules and safe practices is available on the Hays County website.
