City Of Kyle Joins Kinder Morgan Endangered Species Lawsuit
Kyle, TX – On Tuesday, February 4th, at their regularly schedule city council meeting, the Kyle City Council voted to participate in a lawsuit aimed to stop Kinder Morgan from constructing a 42-inch natural gas pipeline through the heart of the city’s boundaries.
The Permian Highway Pipeline is planned to be constructed through environmentally sensitive areas within and surrounding Kyle.
“The City of Kyle was first to take this fight to Kinder Morgan and we should help finish what we started,” said Kyle District 4 Council Member Alex Villalobos. “The risks presented by this pipeline extend far beyond the Kyle city limits and we are very sensitive to that. However, this pipeline directly affects our community and our future and we will continue this fight.”
Kyle joins the cities of Austin and San Marcos, the counties of Travis and Hays, the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District, and affected landowners in the suit that names Kinder Morgan and its affiliates, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as violating the Endangered Species Act.
