City of San Marcos Names New Library Director

Diane Insley has been selected as the new Library Director for the City of San Marcos.
A long-time employee, Insley has served in several positions at the San Marcos Public Library over the last 26 years.  She first joined the San Marcos staff in May 1988 as a Special Services Librarian and most recently served as Public Services Manager, a position she’s held since September 2009.  She’s also served as Patron Services Supervisor and Technical Services Manager during her career with the San Marcos Public Library.
“In my previous position, I hired and trained people who want to serve the public,” said Diane. “In my new role, my focus will remain on what the community experiences from the minute they enter the parking lot until they check out at the circulation desk.”
Diane’s enthusiasm, customer service focus and innovative ideas about technology, programs and services is what City Manager Jared Miller says made her rise to the top of a broad field of candidates.
“Diane’s vast experience, high level of involvement in the community, desire to serve the pubic and her forward-thinking make her the ideal choice for the Library Director position,” said City Manager Jared Miller.  “These qualities were on display in the interview, but are also apparent when she helps customers in the library, or shares information about library services in the community.”
Diane is a graduate of Texas State University with a B.A. in English. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
Diane is a San Marcos resident who has lived and worked in the city for the last 26 years.  Her daughter Mary Davis is a public school teacher in Luling, and her son Wilson Davis is a junior at McCombs School of Business at UT Austin.
Diane replaces Stephanie Langenkamp, who served as Director of the San Marcos Public Library for 32 years. Langenkamp retired in September 2014.
