City of San Marcos Now Hiring Police Officers

The City of San Marcos is seeking dedicated men and women to serve as officers with the San Marcos Police Department.

“We set a very high standard for our officers,” said Chief of Police Chase Stapp. “We want the very best to serve with us as we protect our community.”

As a civil service city, San Marcos conducts a written entrance examination and physical ability assessment. Candidates who successfully complete both of these will form an eligibility list from which officers will be hired. SMPD currently has six openings.

Applicants must apply online at www.sanmarcostx.gov/jobs by Feb. 27 to be eligible to take the entrance exam and physical fitness assessment on March 3.

The City is offering a hiring incentive of $3,000 for certified officers and a lateral entry program for experienced officers.

Full information on the hiring process, requirements, compensation and benefits can be found online at www.smpdjobs.com.
