San Marcos Announces Virtual Alternative For 2020 Farmer Fred’s Harvest Fall Carnival

The City of San Marcos Parks and Recreation Department’s Youth Services Division will host two new programs in place of the annual Farmer Fred’s Harvest Fall Carnival that is traditionally held the Friday before Halloween.

As a safer alternative to the in-person Carnival, two virtual contests and a fall-themed trail walk will be hosted during the month of October.

Farmer Fred’s Harvest Fall Virtual Contests will include a children’s costume contest and front door decorating contest.

Participants may choose to enter one or both and must submit their photos to vgarcia@sanmarcostx.gov by October 19.

Voting will take place on the Parks and Recreation department’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/smtxCS from Oct. 21-29 with the winners being announced on October 30.

Farmer Fred’s Harvest Trail Walk will be set up at City Park from Oct. 28-31. The community is invited to safely visit the trail and is encouraged to wear their costumes.

The first 50 people to submit a photo of their visit to the trail will receive a fall-themed goodie bag, available for pick up on November 5. Photos may be sent to cmarler@sanmarcostx.gov.

Park rules apply and can be found at www.sanmarcostx.gov/parks. Complete details and rules for the virtual contests and trail walk are available at www.sanmarcostx.gov/farmerfred.

Special thanks to our 2020 sponsors: Kobe Steak House, Ernie’s Paint & Body Shop, Sonic, Advanced Imaging San Marcos, and Orthodontic Specialists of San Marcos.
