SAN MARCOS, Texas – On Tuesday, Kaylee Davis and Heather Martin of the Texas State soccer team were selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Team on Tuesday.

The two athletes are the first juniors in program history to be named to one of the all-region teams.

Davis made history by becoming the first Bobcat to be named to the all-region first team. She netted 18 goals to lead the Sun Belt Conference and is currently tied for the third most in the nation.

Her goal is the tied for the most in TXST history in a season that was set by Britney Curry in 2009.

Of her 18 goals, seven of Davis’ total turned out to be match-winning goals to set a new Texas State single-season record. She also tied the program record for a season with 40 shots on goal.

The Allen, Texas native finished the season with 37 points and 86 shots, both the second most ever by a Bobcat.

With just three matches remaining in the NCAA Division I soccer season, Davis is ranked in the top 10 nationally in goals per match (4th/0.90), matching-winning goals (3rd), points (7th) and points per match (8th/1.85) along with her goal total.

The all-region accolade adds to her award haul this season. She is a four-time Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honoree, a conference record, All-Sun Belt First Team selection and was named both the Sun Belt Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.

Martin was picked to the all-region third team and is the first TXST goalkeeper to be recognized on one of the all-region squads. The Midlothian, Texas put together one of the best, if not the best, season by a goalie in program history.

She set new Bobcat season records a 0.45 goals against average, a .919 save percentage and nine solo shutouts. Her GAA is the best in the country while she is eighth in save percentage and 29th in shutouts.

Martin recorded five or more saves in nine matches this past season. At South Alabama on Sept. 23, she matched her career-high with 10 saves in helping TXST win 1-0 for the program’s first-ever victory over the Jaguars.

The all-region team honor adds to her collection this season. Martin was a three-time Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week recipient to become the first player in conference history to do so in back-to-back season.

She has also been named All-Sun Belt First Team, Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, Sun Belt All-Tournament team and First Team Google Cloud Academic All-District® VII.
