NEW ORLEANS – Junior forward Kaylee Davis of the Texas State soccer team was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after her performance at then 18th-ranked Texas on Friday.

Davis scored the opening goal of the match in Austin halfway through the 16th minute after receiving a through ball down the left side from Renny Moore. Her goal was the first allowed in the first half by the Longhorns. It was also the first time that UT had trailed all season, a span of 488:13.

The Allen, Texas’ tally was also the 10th of her Bobcat career and 14th overall at the collegiate level.

It is the first time in Davis’ time at TXST that she has been recognized for the Sun Belt’s weekly award. She is also the first Bobcat to take home one weekly honors this season.

The Bobcats are back in action at the Bobcat Soccer Complex on Friday at 7 p.m. against ULM for the Sun Belt opener and the program’s third annual Teal Match.
