Deadline For Voter Registration Approaches

Citizens have until Monday, Oct. 5 to register to vote in the Nov. 3 election.
You can register in person at the Hays County Elections Office located at 712 South Stagecoach Trail Suite 1045, on the first floor.
People can also register by mail by obtaining an application from the Hays County Election Office, the San Marcos City Clerk’s Office (630 E. Hopkins), or by visiting the Secretary of State’s website at www.votetexas.gov and mailing the application at least 30 days before the next election date.
You are eligible to register to vote if:
  • You are a United States citizen;
  • You are a resident of the county where you submit the application;
  • You are at least 18 years old on Election Day;
  • You are not a convicted felon (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole); and
  • You have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
