Fifty Austin Business Leaders Unite with Seton to Shape the Future of Healthcare in Central Texas
AUSTIN, Texas – (Aug. 6, 2015) – Seton Healthcare Family announced the successful completion of The Fifty, a group of Austin-based leaders and influencers established to support a bold vision for the future of medical care in Central Texas.
Candice and Vince Young, Mellie Price, Adrianna ”AB” Bernal and Matt Thompson officially round out the team of 50 leaders established to support the $50 million capital campaign to build Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas. Bringing leadership experience from across various industries that have transformed Central Texas into a premier place to live, work and play, The Fifty will help raise funds to build an innovative medical community where research and technology combine to make Austin a global leader in medical care.
“The new downtown medical district will truly change the delivery of care in Austin and beyond, but fulfilling that vision requires collaboration and philanthropic support from all corners of our community,” said Charles “Charley” Scarborough, executive director of development for Dell Seton Medical Center at UT. “Through Seton’s partnership with Dell Medical School at UT Austin and Travis County’s Central Health, and now with the support of The Fifty, we are one step closer to creating a destination for state-of-the-art healing, teaching and research.”
In support of Seton’s new teaching hospital, The Fifty will engage key stakeholders in the Austin community, educate and inform citizens and host an annual fundraiser, among other events intended to increase awareness. This year’s event, Studio 50 for Seton, will take place Saturday, Oct. 17, at Brazos Hall.
Proceeds benefit construction and equipment for Dell Seton Medical Center at UT. All donations will be matched, dollar for dollar, by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and will help reach the $50 million philanthropic fundraising goal for the new hospital.

Seton’s new teaching hospital will become Central Texas’ gateway to the future of care. With Dell Seton Medical Center at UT, Austin will have more specialists for a growing population; sustain high quality care for all, with a special concern for the vulnerable; discover new treatments and cures; and experience resulting economic growth. Seton broke ground on the new teaching hospital in the fall of 2014 and the grand opening is planned for 2017.
