Extra DWI Enforcement During Halloween Weekend

Kyle, TX – Halloween is fun for kids and adults with its costumes, parties, candy and spookiness. In some cases, alcohol and other substances are also part of the festivities. In order to better protect everyone’s safety, the Kyle Police Department (KPD) will be ramping up its DWI enforcement over the weekend.

Using grant funds from the Texas Department of Transportation, KPD will have additional officers on the lookout for impaired drivers to provide Kyle residents and visitors to our town with safer streets.

If you opt to engage in drinking or other activities that impair your judgment, make a plan before heading out for the day or evening. Here are a few safety tips from KPD:

1. Arrange for a safe mode of transportation to and from parties / establishments;
2. Remember that it only takes a few drinks to impair driving;
3. Drink water or non-alcoholic beverages throughout the evening in between alcoholic drinks.

“The City of Kyle hasn’t had an alcohol-related fatality in several years. By being responsible and having a plan in place, you can help the city maintain that record while also having a great time this Halloween weekend,” Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said.
