HUD Approves $5 Billion For Harvey Recovery Plan For Texas

“Ten months after Hurricane Harvey devastated Texas, there’s no question our hardest hit communities are still rebuilding,” said Sen. Cornyn.

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced its approval of a $5 billion recovery plan for Texas using Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds the agency previously announced would go to Texas in November 2017:

“Ten months after Hurricane Harvey devastated Texas, there’s no question our hardest hit communities are still rebuilding,” said Sen. Cornyn.  “The approval of this targeted plan to help those who need it most is great news for Texans still working to return to normalcy after this horrific storm.”

Sen. Cornyn helped to secure these funds and voted in support of the first disaster relief supplemental package in September 2017.
