Kyle hosts Dialogue for Peace and Progress 2022 – Celebrating Black History Month

KYLE — The City of Kyle has rescheduled the Dialogue for Peace and Progress 2022 – Celebrating Black History Month to Friday, Feb. 18 from 7 – 8:30 p.m.
The dialogue was originally postponed from Friday, Feb. 4 due to winter weather conditions and traveling hazards in the area.
The Dialogues for Peace and Progress are an event series that take place in conjunction with Black History Month, Juneteenth and Hispanic Heritage Month and work to join community members and leaders for open and honest conversations to raise awareness and, if necessary, facilitate change in the City of Kyle.
“The City of Kyle is extremely proud to host another year of the Dialogue for Peace and Progress – Celebrating Black History Month event,” Council Member Dex Ellison said. “The event series will continue to serve as a platform for open and honest conversations and provide the opportunity to reflect on any positive or negative changes the community members of Kyle have faced within the past year.”
A group of panelists from a multitude of perspectives and backgrounds have been recruited to speak during the discussion, including Pastor Jonafa Banbury, Michelle Benziger Winn, Sheila Henderson, Vanessa Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Micheal Moore and Naissa Bayo. Council Member Ellison will moderate the discussion.
“We greatly appreciate our panelists for taking the time to speak to us about their thoughts and experiences,” Ellison said.
Throughout the month of February, the Kyle Public Library will also be hosting a Celebrating Black History Month Program and Display for the community. The book display will feature works in the collection that celebrate and examine the African American experience in the United States.
The Dialogues for Peace and Progress event will be held in-person at Kyle City Hall, 110 W. Center St., but other options for participation are encouraged, including streaming online through Kyle10, the City’s YouTube channel, and the City of Kyle Facebook page.
