Hays County Flood Risk Review Meetings Set – Get Involved And Know Your Risk

Hays County Courthouse, TX – FEMA is revising floodplain maps in Hays County. Properties may be affected, either by being included or excluded in the new maps.
“Know your flood risk, and the steps you need to take to ensure your safety, property rights, insurance rates and future use of land, which could all be affected,” Tom Pope, Hays County Floodplain Administrator, said. “If you feel your property is inaccurately mapped, there will be an appeal process for you to follow.”
Find out more at one of three public meetings where representatives from FEMA, federal flood insurance specialists, county floodplain staff and local agencies will be available to explain the changes, answer questions and help locate specific properties on the maps.
All meetings are “come-and-go” from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bring the addresses of the specific properties you want to locate. Meeting dates and locations are:
- Tuesday, August 22, Wimberley Community Center, 14068 Ranch Road 12, Wimberley
- Wednesday, August 23, Zedler Mill, 1170 S. Laurel Ave., Luling
- Thursday, August 24, San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos
