Hays County Proclaims October 4 As National Night Out, Encourages Participation

The Hays County Commissioners Court has proclaimed Tuesday, October 4, as National Night Out in Hays County in conjunction with the National Association of Town Watch.

The Court encouraged residents to join with their neighbors and participate in Night Out activities as a way to discuss safety issues and promote neighborhood awareness.

Hays County law enforcement officials, elected officials, and individuals concerned about neighborhood safety will gather to meet and discuss how to improve safety in their areas during events throughout the county.

Police-community partnerships, neighborhood safety, awareness and cooperation are important themes of the National Night Out program, according to the proclamation.

Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler told the Court that law enforcement in Hays County and across the nation appreciates the opportunity to be “up close and personal and talk to our neighbors” about safety issues.
