The City Of San Marcos Invites Public To Celebrate Code SMTX Adoption

“I’m asking residents to come and join with us in celebrating this monumental achievement that will guide our future for decades,” said Mayor John Thomaides.

The City of San Marcos invites the community to join in a celebration of the adoption of Code SMTX, Thurs., May 24 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Kissing Alley, 121 E. Hopkins St.

The City Council approved Code SMTX, a new 434-page development code, at their regular meeting on April 17. The new San Marcos Development Code may be viewed through this interactive link: www.sanmarcostx.gov/SMTXdevcode.

“I’m asking residents to come and join with us in celebrating this monumental achievement that will guide our future for decades,” said Mayor John Thomaides.  “This is a milestone moment for our entire community.”

Attendees will join the Mayor, City Council, Board and Commission members, the Chamber of Commerce and City staff for entertainment, light refreshments and a brief program.  In the event of rain, the celebration will be held in the Hays County Historic Courthouse Rotunda, 111 E San Antonio St.

Code SMTX represents a four-year community effort to ensure that the rules for development are in line with the Vision established in the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
