Hays County Commissioners Court To Receive Update On County Judge’s Criminal Justice Taskforce, Discuss Criminal Justice Coordinating Commission Bylaws

The Hays County Commissioners Court will receive an update on the County Judge’s Criminal Justice Taskforce and discuss the bylaws and Commissioners Court representatives for the Hays County Criminal Justice Coordinating Commission Tuesday.
Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra will provide commissioners with an update on the presentations and actions taken in the Criminal Justice Taskforce’s first meeting.
Commissioners will also discuss and consider possible action to approve the bylaws and commissioners court representatives for the Hays County Criminal Justice Coordinating Commission.
According to the agenda, the committee has been active on and off for at least ten years. On April 2, 2019, the commissioners court voted to rename it the Hays County Criminal Justice Coordinating Commission to avoid confusion.
The commission’s voting members include two Hays County Commissioner’s court representatives, District Judge Representative, County Court-at-Law representative, Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement and Corrections, District Attorney, Community Supervisions and Corrections/Adult Probation Director, District Clerk, County Clerk, Justice of the Peace Representative, Constable Representative, Information Technology Director, Juvenile Probation Director and Countywide Operations Criminal Justice Analyst.
In other news, commissioners will discuss and consider authorizing the Countywide Operations Department and Grants Department to exchange office spaces within the Hays County Government Center with the Records Management Office.
According to the agenda, the Countywide Operations Department and Grants Department are in need of office space that will accommodate their needs in one area. Currently, the department is occupying two offices at the Hays County Courthouse and one office at the Government Center.
The agenda states the Government Center office space currently occupied by Records Management will accommodate the needs of Countywide Operations, and the current Countywide Operations office in the Government Center will accommodate the Records Management Department’s needs.
Hays County Commissioners Court will convene at 9 AM in the Commissioners Courtroom on the third floor of the Hays County Courthouse in Downtown San Marcos.
