HCSO Releases Update On Armed Suspect In Wimberley

The suspect who led Hays County Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Department of Public Safety trooper on a vehicle pursuit in Wimberley on Thursday, August 20, 2020, was pronounced deceased later that day at a local hospital by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith.

The man was identified as Nathan Harrington, 43 years old. His last known residency was in Pflugerville.

Harrington had an extensive criminal history that included multiple felony drug arrests, evading, and weapons arrests.

A deputy injured during the pursuit was treated and released with minor injuries to one of his legs and arms. His injuries were sustained from the vehicle collision during the pursuit with Harrington and not due to being shot.

The delay in releasing this information was due to the difficulty in locating and notifying the next of kin prior to releasing Harrington’s name.

Texas Rangers and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office continue their joint investigation and will release information as it is available.
