New State Rep. Zwiener Pulls In A Whopping $103 Million For Texas State-San Marcos Campus
Austin, TX — State Representative Erin Zwiener (D-Driftwood) voted this week in favor of Senate Bill 709, authored by Sen. Royce West and Sen. Kel Seliger, which increases funds to Texas State University by $13 million.
Raising The Texas State University Higher Education Fund allocation from $24 million to $37 million, this bill allows dollars to be used on capital projects and technology needs of the San Marcos campus.
“Texas State University provides life-changing opportunities for people across Texas, especially those in House District 45,” said Rep. Zwiener. “This bill will enrich the lives of students, their time on campus, and their careers for years to come. I am glad to see these additional funds going toward such a worthy and noble institution and look forward to seeing the difference it will make for the San Marcos campus.”
Last month, Zwiener co-authored Texas House passed HB 2000, which, among other measures, provides $90 million in funds to Texas State University. The funds in HB 2000 go directly toward the construction of a STEM classroom building at the main campus located in San Marcos. Rep. Zwiener voted in favor of this legislation.
“These funds will help to enrich the lives of students and their experiences in the classroom. San Marcos students will have a new, state-of-the-art building in which to learn and grow,” said Zwiener in April when asked about HB 2000.
