While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 LANE CLOSURES

TUESDAY 5/29 – FRIDAY 6/1

TRAFFIC ALERT …

NORTHBOUND I-35 DECKS TO CLOSE FOR PAVING OPERATIONS

Lower deck closures will occur Sunday through Tuesday nights from 9 PM to 5 AM, weather permitting.

During the closures, I-35 northbound mainlane traffic will be detoured to the upper deck at Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Drivers wishing to access Manor Road (exit 235B), Dean Keeton, or 32nd – 381/2 Streets (exit 236), will need to exit at Martin Luther King Boulevard (exit 235A), and stay on the frontage road.

Upper deck closure will occur on Wednesday night from 9 PM to 5 AM, weather permitting.

During the closure, I-35 northbound traffic will be diverted to the lower deck at the split, and traffic will be reduced to one lane from Airport Boulevard to 51st Street.

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

William Cannon Dr. closed in both directions across I-35. | 8 PM until 5 AM Thursday, June 7 and Friday, June 8

Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Slaughter Ln. and William Cannon Dr. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, June 3 through Tuesday, June 5

I-35 reduced to one lane in both directions between Colonial Park Blvd. and Slaughter Ln. | 10 PM until 5 AM Sunday, June 3 through Monday, June 4

Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Stassney Ln. and Williamson Creek. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, June 4 through Tuesday, June 5

Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between SH 71 and Woodward St. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, June 4 through Friday, June 8

Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Shelby Ln and Williamson Creek. | 8 PM until 5 AM Monday, June 4 through Tuesday, June 5

Northbound I-35 right lane closed between Slaughter Ln and Boggy Creek. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, June 5 through Thursday, June 7

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

Southbound I-35 left lane closed between US 183 and US 290 E. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, June 3 through Thursday, June 7

Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Huntland Dr. and US 290 E. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, June 3 through Thursday, June 7

Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at Blackson Ave. | 9 AM until 3 PM from Wednesday, June 6 through Friday, June 15

I–35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT OVERVIEW | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hester’s Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

I-35 TO FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd)

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Two ramps on the southbound I-35 frontage roads between RM 1431 and FM 3406 are being reconstructed and reversed to address traffic congestion and improve I-35 frontage road and mainlane operations.
