The 55,000 square foot facility includes City Administrative Offices, City Council Chambers, the Economic Development Corporation office, community multi-purpose space, and an Emergency Operations Center.

The new Buda Public Library alone is 25,000 square feet. Between the library and multi-purpose meeting space, approximately 40% of the building is public space.

“The new building will make things a lot easier for everyone,” said Mayor George Haehn. “All of our administrative offices are now under one roof. Plus, our new 25,000 square foot library is a focal point of the building. It includes a reading room for kids, study rooms,  a large craft room, and additional space for our citizens to enjoy.”

“The new facility will have a tremendous impact on the City of Buda well into the future,“ said City Manager Kenneth Williams. “We built the facility to accommodate growth for the next 25 to 30 years.”

The Municipal Facility was paid for as part of a $55 million dollar bond approved by voters in November of 2014. The bond is comprised of five propositions aimed at improving streets, drainage, parks and trails, municipal facilities, and public safety facilities.

Architect firm Page and general contractor JE Dunn lead the project design and construction.

“It has been JE Dunn’s honor to partner and collaborate with both the City of Buda and A/E Firms, as well as all of our trade partners in order to deliver this instrumental project for the City of Buda,” said Mark Christopher, JE Dunn Senior Project Manager. “When we defined the project purpose it was to ‘Enrich the Community of Buda by delivering a welcoming space for all patrons to gather and work.’ I sincerely believe we accomplished this goal. The City of Buda has a landmark space that will serve their growing community for years to come. There was a lot of hard work and determination by so many to make this project a reality, and I’d like to thank everyone who had a hand in helping us make the project a success.”

“The design speaks to the nature of the community of Buda and the city management’s desire to have an open and transparent local government,” said Ginny Chilton, Page Project Manager. “We designed a building that supports the city government’s focus on public service and priority of hearing the voice of the community. With thoughts of what the diverse people of Buda wanted, the library expanded the book collection and added children’s and teens areas, quiet reading rooms, group study rooms, reading garden, community classrooms and maker space. The collocation of the library and city hall opened the door for the opportunity of a large shared common space, a room that we like to call the city’s living room that can be used for gathering before events or for settling in with a cup of coffee and a good read with a view of the trees.”
