City of San Marcos: Stay Out Of The San Marcos, Blanco Rivers

River Parks Closed in San Marcos Due to Flood Damage

River parks in San Marcos, Purgatory Creek Natural Area, and Five-Mile Dam Soccer Complex are closed until further notice due to flooding.

River parks that are closed include City Park, San Marcos Plaza Park, Veremendi Plaza Park, Bicentennial Park, Rio Vista Park, Ramon Lucio Park, Stokes Park, Crooks Park and Blanco Shoals Park.

Thompson’s Island and Cape’s Camp have been closed since the Memorial Day floods.

Park Rangers and San Marcos Police will be patrolling these parks in coming days to keep people away from these dangerous areas. High water and flood debris are creating hazardous conditions in the parks.

Entry to the San Marcos and Blanco Rivers will be off limits in San Marcos until further notice.

Up-to-date weather warnings can be found at the National Weather Service at www.weather.gov; local road closures are listed at www.atxfloods.com.
