This Holiday Season Amazon Now Hiring Over 120,000 Jobs In The U.S. Including San Marcos Facility

The San Marcos fulfillment Center opened in August of last year and in the days leading up to last Christmas, the facility successfully shipped a record of 1 million packages in a single day. 

Amazon announced on Oct. 12 it is creating more than 120,000 positions this season across its U.S. network of fulfillment centers, sortation centers and customer service sites.

Last year, thousands of holiday positions were transitioned to regular, full-time roles after the holidays, and the company expects to continue that trend this year.

The San Marcos fulfillment Center opened in August of 2016, and in the days leading up to Christmas, the facility successfully shipped a record of 1 million packages in a single day.

The San Marcos Fulfillment center is the fifth location in the state of Texas. There are only four other centers worldwide that hit the 1 million packages record in a single day.

“We prepare year round for the holidays, and we’re excited to hire for over 120,000 positions this season to help delight our customers,” said Dave Clark, Amazon Senior Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment. “We look forward to welcoming back holiday employees who return year-after-year to Amazon and welcome new faces to the team, many of whom will continue on with regular, full-time roles with the company after the holidays.”

The new employees will join the more than 125,000 regular, full-time employees at Amazon’s more than 75 fulfillment centers across the country to help pick, pack and ship customers’ holiday orders.

Amazon’s cutting-edge employee benefit programs

In addition, the company’s hourly fulfillment center employees are eligible for Amazon’s innovative Career Choice program that pre-pays 95 percent of the cost of tuition for courses related to in-demand fields, regardless of whether those skills are related to jobs at Amazon. To date, more than 10,000 employees have taken the next step in pursuing their passion with career re-training through the Career Choice program.

Amazon gives back to their communities….including San Marcos

In March of this year, Amazon surprised members of the Rattler Robotics Team at San Marcos High School with a $10,000 donation and will support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education at San Marcos High School and improve the robotics team’s competitiveness at the FIRST Robotics Competition.

In addition to the grant funding, the donation included tools and machinery, which allows the students to construct a practice robot and will help them fine-tune programming, vision processing, designs and driver performance before their robotics competition.
