Hays County Food Bank distributed over one million pounds of food in 2021

HAYS COUNTY– The Hays County Food Bank has had a successful year in distributing food throughout Hays County and improving lives through food assistance programs, nutrition education, and advocacy.

From January 2021- November 2021, the Hays County Food Bank has distributed 1,042,000 pounds of food, served 33,440 households and had 10,190 hours volunteered.

In the programs 15th annual year, the Turkeys Tackling Hunger Campaign provided 1,500 meal boxes throughout Hays County for the Thanksgiving holiday season. In addition, the campaign distributed 41,000 pounds of food and had 110 volunteers handing out food boxes.

The Hays County Foodbank will be closed for the holiday season from Dec. 24 to Jan. 3, 2022. During this time there will not be any distribution or volunteer opportunities.
