OP-ED: The U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the idiot

Two hundred and some 40 years ago, which is just a blink of time in world history, some brave men grew tired of a government tyranny.

They drafted and adopted the finest document since the bible. That document is the constitution of the United States of America.

This constitution along with the Bill of Rights along with some amendments are designed to free men from government overreach.

Our constitution is written in plain English and has allowed citizens to build a great nation. With personal freedoms and capitalist commerce.

This country with only 5 percent of the world’s population has become the strongest, wealthiest nation in the world.

Anyone that wants to fundamentally change this doctrine is a socialist, communist, or an idiot!

History has proven time and time again that great nations or empires will fall because of bad policies! See you at the polls.

  1. I’m probably showing my age by admitting I read the Constitution in High School (and have read it multiple times since). It’s an easy read, even though every word and grammatical mark matters. I liked your op ed. But I would disagree that anyone who wants to fundamentally change it is a socialist, communist, or idiot.
There are 27 Amendments – 17 beyond the first 10 (Bill of Rights). My personal favorite is the 19th Amendment. Although I am also fond of the 18th. I do understand your concern about “fundamental” changes. But the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments were fundamental changes – as well as the 19th and 26th.
The beauty of the Constitution is the process required to make amendments – which I still believe prevents changes by “idiots.”
More people should read it in its entirety.
