Keep San Marcos Beautiful Spring Concerts Begin April 9
The City of San Marcos will host the Keep San Marcos Beautiful (KSMB) Spring Concert Series beginning Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Plaza Park stage, 401 E. Hopkins, located at the corner of CM Allen Parkway and Hopkins.
The concert series kicks off with The Spazmatics followed by The Tejas Brothers, Curtis Grimes, and Bluffett.
The free concert series highlights an array of musical talent and offers a family-friendly interactive sustainability area to educate and promote awareness of the city’s unique beauty and resources.
“Keep San Marcos Beautiful works to establish San Marcos as an exceptional place that people desire to live, work and visit,” said Amy Kirwin, Solid Waste Coordinator. “Most of this is done through educating and engaging our residents. What better way to achieve this than by bringing people of all ages together at a live music event?”
Pre-concert events begin at 6:30 p.m., and concert headliners take the stage at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The public is invited to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the free concert. Responsible use of alcohol is allowed at this event for those over 21. Under park rules Styrofoam, glass, and smoking are not permitted.
The KSMB concert series will continue every Thursday evening through April 30. Acts for the spring season include:

· April 30: Bluffett
The Spazmatics: The Spazmatics present the ultimate new wave 80’s show by performing hot cover songs. The band is well known not only for great music, but also their onstage costumes that range from plaid pants, short shorts and funky glasses. They perform all over, and this year will be their second year coming to the Keep San Marcos Beautiful Spring Concert Series.
The Tejas Brothers: After performing for the first time in Fort Worth in 2006, these brothers quickly became the talk of the hour with their music that has a unique country twist to it. Since 2006 they have been entertaining audiences and earning the respect of Texas Country musicians. Their debut CD was recognized as the seventh most played album for 2009 by the Americana Music Association. Since then, they have released two more impressive albums that speak the language of Texas Country.
Curtis Grimes: A native Texan who attended Texas State University, Curtis Grimes began his music career by songwriting and playing at small venues in 2007. After being a contestant on the NBC show, “The Voice” in 2014, he released his first album and his single “Our Side of the Fence” spent two weeks on the top of the Texas charts. Grimes is now a part of a new wave of Texas Country music and has shared the stage with some of the most respected country artists performing today.
Bluffett: A tribute to Jimmy Buffett’s band, Bluffett was created by a super fan named Larry Pearson who began singing Jimmy Buffett covers for audiences almost 20 years ago. The response was so overwhelming that he had no choice but to form a cover band that has now been on tour for 15 years—and they don’t plan to stop any time soon!
