San Marcos Road Construction And Traffic Update

Projects affecting San Marcos traffic July 26 – August 1, 2015
EAST DE ZAVALA: All lanes in both directions will be closed continuously for a culvert replacement until July 31, 2015. Detour signs will be present throughout Staples Road, Broadway Street and Hwy 123. City of San Marcos Drainage Dept., 512.393.8036
600 – 1700 BLOCK OF MILL ST.: As part of the City’s new pavement management program, street maintenance crews will begin their last phase  of street overlay throughout the 600-700 block of Mill Street on July 28, 2015 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Project length is estimated at 1 to 2 days, weather permitting. Vehicles should be parked off the street or they may be towed at owners’ expense. Drive carefully, obey all traffic control flaggers and be cautious of heavy equipment and fresh oil on the street. NORTH LBJ FROM CAMARO WAY TO CRADDOCK: This road will be open to two-way traffic, but the lanes will be shifted west to allow space for the City contractor to construct a new lift station on the corner of N. 300-400 BLOCK OF STAGECOACH TRAIL: One lane going west bound will be closed for construction of a new westbound lane on July 22, 2015 through Aug. 30, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cox Commercial Construction, 512.848.4446
COMANCHE ST: Crews will stripe the pavement beginning on Comanche Street from Woods Street to Sessom Drive, then continuing on to Craddock Avenue from Old RR 12 to N. LBJ Drive. The project will last approximately three weeks, weather permitting. No detours; traffic crews will use flaggers as needed. City of San Marcos Traffic Dept., 512.393.8036
MATTHEWS ST BETWEEN NORTH LBJ AND ELM STREET: Texas State University is planning a project to improve the storm water drainage system on Matthews Street between North LBJ and Elm Street. The project requires the closing of both lanes of Matthews Street starting at 6 a.m. Monday July 13, 2015 and re-opening at 6 p.m. Friday July 31, 2015. Texas State University, 512.245.2202
TxDOT HUNTER ROAD (FM 2439) PROJECT: Two way traffic has been restored between Dixon and Bishop Street. Various lane closures will continue on Hunter Road between Wonder World Drive and Bishop Street will through the Fall 2015 for road, bridge, drainage, bicycle and pedestrian improvements. MOORE AT READ ST: Moore Street at Read Street will be closed for grading adjustments and asphalt repairs around the utility vaults located in Moore Street. This street closure will cut off access to the small parking lot adjacent to the area. Moore Street and the parking lot will reopen at 8 p.m. on July 26, 2015. Texas State University, 512.245.2202
LOOP 82 FROM CHARLES AUSTIN DRIVE TO RR CROSSING:  The closure will run from Charles Austin Drive to the RR Crossing for the installation of the proposed storm sewer system starting on July 19 at 8 p.m. and ending on July 24, 2015 at 5 a.m., also scheduled on July 26 at 8 p.m. and ending on July 31, 2015 at 5 a.m. Rotating lane closures will assist in maintaining at least one traffic lane open for both east and west bound lanes at all times. HWY 80 FROM CLAREWOOD TO IH-35: TxDot is widening SH 80 from Clarewood to IH-35 to allow a second left lane for traffic traveling from SH 80 to South IH-35. Construction will last approximately three months, weather permitting. TxDOT, 512.924.1715

100 BLK WESTWOODS & 200 BLK OF TALBOT: Portions of West Woods Street and Talbot Street will be under construction, with alternating lane closures and one-way through traffic with flaggers present for the installation of sanitary sewer site utilities. Vehicles will still be able to access Woods Street garage and the Alkek parking garage during this phase of construction. All lanes will be fully open to traffic on Friday Aug. 14, 2015. 700-800 BLOCK OF N. LBJ DRIVE: Portions of the N. LBJ Bus loop will be under construction with one lane open into campus from Sessom onto N. LBJ Drive and one lane leaving campus on N. LBJ to Sessom. Vehicles will be able to access the Pleasant Street Garage as well as Pleasant Street. The project will be complete and lanes fully re-opened by July 31, 2015, weather permitting. NORTH LBJ AT YOUNGER: Reconstruction of N.LBJ will continue until end of July 2015 in conjunction with the N.LBJ reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. EAST SAN ANTONIO STREET: Every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Half a block of street closed from the alley to N. LBJ for the Farmers Market on the Square. Main Street Program, 512.393.8430
LONG TERM ROAD PROJECTS:
  • 1500 BLOCK N LBJ: One lane going north bound will be closed for lift station improvements on July 22, 2015 through April 21, 2016. Prota Construction, Inc. 787-528-3171
  • MOORE STREET: Moore Street is closed from Read to Holland Street until 2016 for dormitory construction. Texas State University FPDC, 512.245.2202
  • NORTH LBJ: Until August of 2015. Reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Motorists will be detoured one way northbound on LBJ from Forest to Holland Streets and will use Chestnut as a southbound route during construction. Engineering/Capital Improvements, 512.393.8130
