SAN MARCOS — The San Marcos Rattlers (1-3, 0-2 in conference) lost 56-0 in a lopsided game against the visiting Austin Westlake Chaparrals (4-0, 2-0), behind a strong ground game that tallied six rushing touchdowns.

The Rattlers, who failed to score a touchdown and surrendered over 50 points in back to back contests, are currently two games behind the Westlake Chaparrals for first place in the 6A Region IV District 26 Football Standings.

“The scoreboard doesn’t reflect anything positive if you’re just an average viewer but our defense plays lights out,” Walsh said. “We just put them on the field way too long. We got stops against the No. 4 team in the state and I think we would’ve gotten more stops if they weren’t so tired.”

After having gained just 249 yards combined over the past two weeks against class 6A number 7 Lake Travis, and number 4 Austin Westlake, the Rattlers will be looking to enjoy a change of pace.

On Friday, the Rattlers will look to secure their second win of the season when the Buda Hays Rebels (2-2, 1-1) travel to San Marcos for a 6A Region IV District 26 showdown.
