San Marcos Announces Fall Sweep Cleanup 2017

Keep San Marcos Beautiful (KSMB) is a city program dedicated to beautifying and improving the San Marcos community environment through programming and education in litter prevention, beautification, waste reduction and sustainability. 

Keep San Marcos Beautiful (KSMB) will kick-off the Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) Fall Sweep cleanup Oct. 7, a new event to celebrate its 50th anniversary in partnership with Don’t Mess with Texas and the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup effort in Texas.

Volunteers will arrive at 8:30 a.m. at the City Park Rec Hall (170 Charles Austin) for sign in, get a shirt, and breakfast tacos. To sign up early go to: https://goo.gl/5cwbP9

“We’re excited Keep Texas Beautiful chose San Marcos for the launch of their new program. With our beautiful river and engaged residents, it’s a perfect way to start their Fall Sweep,” said Amy Kirwin, Community Enhancement Initiatives Manager.

Cleanup areas will include: San Marcos River from City Park to Stokes Park; Purgatory Creek; Willow Creek; Downtown and drainage ditches along Hopkins, Charles Austin, and Hwy 123. Assigned area will be distributed at registration.

Please wear close-toed shoes. All other supplies will be provided. Lunch will be provided for volunteers starting around 11:30 a.m.
