San Marcos CISD Student Awarded $2,500 PEC Scholarship

Johnson City, Texas – Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) announced the recipients of its 2018 scholarships for local high school seniors at an April 26 reception at the cooperative’s Johnson City headquarters.
Twenty-eight outstanding area students received a total of $100,000 in scholarships ranging from $2,500 to one $10,000 award. More than 360 applications were received this year.
Hannah McGee, a student at San Marcos High School, received a $2,500 scholarship.

Recipients were selected by a panel of independent judges based on their applicant profiles, including academic performance, community involvement, extracurricular activities and financial need. Applicants also submitted an essay in which they were asked to identify how a PEC scholarship would help them achieve their educational and career goals.
“We are committed to helping our future leaders grow, and the essays we received were a powerful reminder of just how much PEC, as a cooperative, supports and empowers our members,” said Trista Fugate, PEC’s director of community engagement. “These students each have so much promise, and we look forward to watching them succeed.”
