Orangetheory Fitness To Open In San Marcos

Orangetheory Fitness, a fast-growing, group fitness concept that uses 60-minute and 90-minute classes broken into intervals of high-energy training, has announced that construction is underway at its first location in San Marcos.

The studio is slated to open in December and pre-sales opportunities are now available, and the first workout is always free.

“We are excited about the continued interest in Orangetheory Fitness in Central Texas, and we are pleased to open a studio in San Marcos,” Ashley Prewitt, local owner of Orangetheory Fitness, said. “We are confident that our unique workouts will be a great fit for the San Marcos community.”

The San Marcos studio is accepting reservations, which are free to make and are the best way to guarantee the lowest membership price possible for when the store opens later this year.

Orangetheory will be located at 243 Wonder World Dr along with Figaro’s Pizza & Pub, which was scheduled to open in August, but the building development spent the summer months running behind schedule.

Orangetheory Fitness is based on the physiological science known as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). The workout is broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training.

Participants burn anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories per 60-minute training session using a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, TRX suspension training™ and free weights.

The heart-rate-monitored training is designed to keep heart rates in a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. The result is the Orange Effect—more energy, visible toning and extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours post workout.

Orangetheory Fitness was introduced into the Central Texas fitness scene when it opened its first store in 2014. Since then, the workout concept has had tremendous success. The fitness studio currently has 38 locations in Texas, and more than 500 locations worldwide.

“We are pleased to offer this workout concept to San Marcos residents,” Terry Blachek, co-founder and local owner of Orangetheory Fitness, said. “Central Texans have welcomed Orangetheory and we are looking forward to opening additional studios across the region.”
