San Marcos Police have arrested a man accused of robbing a bank in broad daylight Saturday morning.

“The City of San Marcos is blessed to have such dedicated professionals working to keep this community safe,” said Chief Chase Stapp. “This arrest is a great example of the dedication, skill, and persistence we bring to bear on crimes such as this committed in our city.”

At about 9:05 a.m. Saturday, April 28, a man walked into the lobby of Bank of America at 308 E. Hopkins St. minutes after it opened for business wearing a black hoodie, light colored mask, black gloves and jeans.

The man displayed a firearm and ordered customers to lie on the floor. He demanded money from the teller and fled out the lobby doors to a silver-colored vehicle parked in the alleyway to the rear of Skiles Real Estate, making off with an undisclosed amount of money.

As a result of investigative diligence and with the assistance of the FBI and the Austin Police Department, SMPD arrested Rodney Glenn Green, DOB 08/05/1960, Austin, TX overnight in Austin at the Studio 6 Motel, 3303 IH-35 N.

Green was taken into custody Monday morning, April 30. He is currently being held at the Hays County Jail and has been charged with Aggravated Robbery pending a bond hearing.
