Breaking Update: Texas State Student Found Dead in Martindale

Update:

Guadalupe County Sheriff’s department have identified the victim as Jordan Taylor, 20, of Burleson.

Officials said Taylor was found Saturday by a mechanic under the rear axle of a shutter bus at Cool River Ranch. Investigators reported that Taylor had been hit by the bus and dragged for 500 feet. Authorities believe that the mechanical problems were related to the collision with the student.

The bus driver reported the issue with the air-braking system around 11:15 p.m. Friday night; he was instructed to transfer to a different bus. On Saturday, a mechanic was sent to do repairs and found the body.

Matt Flores, Texas State Official, said the Halloween party Friday was a off-campus event hosted by multiple fraternities and registered with the university.

Neechi Sosa said there were police officers patrolling the property throughout the party, and the event ended at 11:30 p.m.

The collision appears to be an accident; however, Guadalupe County Sheriff’s office asks community and those who attended the party to call 830-379-1224 if they have any information regarding the incident.
