Genealogy Workshop

Have you ever wondered about your ancestors? The San Marcos Public Library invites the ancestrally curious to a genealogy workshop with Lynda Dawson and Sharon Wolff, members of the lineage-based service organization Daughters of the American Revolution, on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Participants will learn to begin or expand upon their family trees with the latest tools, discovering the secrets and surprises of family photos, stories, tradition and legacy along the way. Participants will also learn about how to become involved in heritage societies and organizations like the DAR. Please bring your own brown bag lunch.
Rainwater Collection

Conserve your water supply, beautify your gardens and landscape, and save on your water bill with rainwater!
The San Marcos Public Library will provide an information session about collecting and storing rainwater for residential use on Thursday, May 26 from 6 to 7 p.m. Betsy Robertson of Sustainable San Marcos will share a photo journey and stories about her experience with installing and maintaining a successful rainwater collection system. Jan Klein, Conservation Coordinator for the City of San Marcos, will explain system components and give details about the City’s rain barrel rebate program.
