We are pleased to make this investment.”

This grant will be used to provide customized training to 430 new and incumbent workers for industry-related topics with focused instruction on AutoCAD, Programmable Logic Controls, welding, hydraulics, motor controls and electrical basics.

Trainees will include lab control technicians, production workers, manufacturing associates, forklift operators, maintenance technicians, press brake operators, packers, leather printers, shipping clerks, crown iron finishers, sewing operators and brim workers.

Upon completion of training, the workers will receive an average wage of $20.37.

The Legislature allocated $48.5 million to the Skills Development Fund for the 2016-17 biennium. Employers seeking more information about the Skills Development Fund may visit the TWC website at www.texasworkforce.org/skills.
