SMCISD Assistant Superintendent Of HR Resigns

On January 5, 2016, Adelaida “Lolly” Guerra, Ed.D., submitted her letter of resignation as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources to Superintendent Mark E. Eads, and followed up with an email to all principals and department leaders. Her resignation will be effective March 4, 2016.

In her letter, Guerra said she is “retiring from public education to pursue other interests” and says she will assist in making the transition a smooth one for San Marcos CISD staff.

Guerra has served 41 years as a professional educator, 40 of those years with San Marcos CISD. As summarized in her letter, she was principal of Crockett Elementary before leading the HR department. While at Crockett, she helped lead her team to several Texas Education Agency’s Recognized and two Exemplary designations, as well as earning recognition as a Just for the Kids Honor Roll School. While heading Human Resources for 13 years, she helped modernize and automate many of the HR functions.

Also listed among those things of which she is most proud is “leading the first comprehensive child-centered curriculum and program development for our now state of the art and award winning Pre-K program.”

Guerra adds that “SMCISD has truly been my home and I am very appreciative of all the opportunities afforded me throughout my career.”

This makes the third resignation at SMCISD since Dr. Greg Rodriguez signed on August 25, 2015.
