SMCISD Board Member Arrested, Charged With DWI

A San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District School Board Trustee was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated early Friday morning.

Juan Miguel Arredondo, 27, was arrested at approximately 12:30 AM and booked into Hays County Jail for driving while intoxicated.

Police Commander Kelly Bomserbach with San Marcos Police Department said officers were dispatched around 12:20 AM to the area of South Guadalupe and the railroad tracks near Cheatham St. for a welfare concern.

The driver of a red mustang was reported to be either unconscious or asleep behind the wheel.

The vehicle was located in the middle of the roadway in a stationary position with the engine running just before the railroad tracks, according to Bomserbach.

Officers observed the driver slumped over the wheel.

Arredondo was arrested and charged with DWI. As of 2:25 PM Friday, he had not been released from Hays County Jail according to the county jail records.

  1. I’m so sorry for this young man. We all make mistakes. This unfortunate will go with him for life.

    1. This is his second arrest. He didn’t learn anything and didn’t better himself after the first offense. He’s not fit to make policy decisions at this point in his life. It’s unacceptable and should resign but he won’t. School board members are just as important as City Council, and the mayor. This is an example of why smcisd is held in low regard.
