TXST soccer signs seven in 2022 class

SAN MARCOS – Texas State head soccer coach Kat Conner announced the signing of six high school senior for the 2022 season on Wednesday. Joining the Bobcats next Fall are Nia Chacon, Lily Erb, Mallory Henderson, Chloe Jones, Alexis Neal, Grace Reddic and Kate Roberts.

“The 2022 Class is made up of dynamic players that really love to play the game,” said Conner. “I’m excited about their talent and mindset as they love to compete and improve upon their game.”

Nia Chacon | Rowlett, Texas | Sachse HS | FC Dallas ECNL

Chacon will be graduating from Sachse High School in Rowlett, Texas. The midfielder is coming off a 13-goal, 21-assist campaign. Her performance earned Newcomer of the Year in District 9-6A and the Star Local Media All-Area.

Since 2017, she has played with FC Dallas ECNL.

Conner on Chacon: “Nia is a midfielder who can build the creative attack while still being explosive herself.”

Lily Erb | Austin, Texas | Bowie HS | Sting SC ECNL

Erb is a midfielder from Austin, Texas. She was a 2021 All-District 26-6A First Team selection out of James Bowie High School. The future Bobcat also earned the district’s Golden Boot award after netting 18 goals while adding 12 assists. Erb earned academic all-district honors and was voted the Bulldogs’ Offensive MVP her junior year as well.

The last three years she has played club soccer for Sting SC ECNL. Erb also played for the Lonestar Developmental Academy from 2016-20.

In the classroom, she is a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the student council and President of the Bowie Buddies.

Conner on Erb: “Lily is a dynamic midfielder that can create attacking opportunities and finish them.”

Mallory Henderson | McAllen, Texas | McAllen HS | STX Dynamo

Henderson is a midfielder from McAllen, Texas. This past Spring saw her named to the TASCO All-State Second Team as a forward after scoring 29 goals for McAllen High School. She was also first team All-District 30-5A, all-valley and all-area selection in 2021. Her performance held lead the Bulldogs to a 21-1 record, the 30-5A District title and the regional semifinals.

The soon to be Bobcat also competes in track where she has earned all-district first team and all-region second team accolades. Henderson is also the President of FCA, a National Honor Society Member and a volunteer U6 soccer coach.

Henderson has played club soccer for STX Dynamo the past eight years. She also competes for Classics Elite ECNL, whom she has competed with for the last three campaigns.

She will be the third member of her family to play at intercollegiate athletics. Her older brother, Gunnar, is a wide receiver at TCU and her older sister, Westyn, is a member of the Texas A&M soccer team.

Conner on Henderson: “Mallory presents as a dynamic, technical player who likes to go at opponents and create goal scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates from the outside midfield position.”

Chloe Jones | Lewisville, Texas | Hebron HS | D’Feeters Kicks ECNL

Jones will graduate from Hebron High School where she has been named to the All-District 6-6A First Team the past two years. The midfielder has recorded seven goals and 11 assists in her career on the varsity team that included a five-goal, seven-assist campaign in 2021. Her performance helped the Hawks to a 16-6-2 record and advance to the regional quarterfinals.

The future Bobcat plays club for D’Feeters Kicks ECNL. She helped the team place third in conference and advance to the playoffs this past season.

Conner on Jones: “Chloe in the center midfield is a particularly smart and technical player. She is always watching film and studying how to improve her game and support her team.”

Alexis Neal | Coppell, Texas | Ranchview HS | Dallas Texans ECNL

Neal is a forward from Ranchview High School in Irving, Texas. She is a two-time District 10-4A MVP and First Team selection.

The future Bobcat netted 109 goals over her first two years of high school with 57 coming as a freshman and 52 her sophomore campaign. Her performance in 2019 saw her receive the Dallas Morning News Newcomer of the Year and Best UIL Goal Scorer in the DFW area. In 2020, she was selected as a finalist for the USA Today Girls Soccer Player of the Year in the Dallas area.

Along with competing on the pitch, Neal also plays on the Wolves volleyball team as a defensive specialist and is a point guard on the basketball squad. She is a member of the National Honor Society, YoungLife, African American Alliance and student council.

Neal plays club soccer for the Dallas Texans ECNL under the direction of Jimmy Fagen. She helped the team claim the 2019 Dallas Girls International Cup and North Texas State Cup championships.

Conner on Neal: “Alexis is an extremely explosive forward and likes to take players 1v1. She will push our attack to get behind the opponent’s defense.”

Grade Reddic | Dallas, Texas | Martin HS | Invictus SC

Reddic is a forward and will graduate from Martin High School in Arlington, Texas. She was a 2021 All-District 8-6A First Team selection and was an all-district honorable mention honoree in 2020. For her prep career, she has tallied 15 goals and been credited with nine assists.

Along with competing on the pitch, Reddic also ran cross country from 2018-20 where she made the all-region team as a junior. She is also the secretary of the National Honor Society, a member of student council and a Key Club member.

Reddic plays club soccer for Invictus SC. This past year she scored eight goals and assisted on four others. Her best season came in 2019 when she found the back of the net 16 times and recorded six assists.

Conner on Reddic: “Grace is a remarkably versatile player who is dynamic physically and technically. She consistently connects her teammates with penetrating passes but also knows when to go in herself to score.”

Kate Roberts | San Antonio, Texas | Antonian Prep HS | Classics Elite ECNL

Roberts is a defender from San Antonio and will graduate from Antonian Prep High School. She is a three-time All-District 3 First Team selection and picked to the TAPPS All-State Division 1 First Team honors the past two years. Last season saw her earn TAPPS Academic All-State Team accolade.

In her prep career, Roberts has scored 36 goals and recorded 13 assists. This past season saw her net 16 goals, the most on the team, and assist on four others in helping the Apaches to a 14-1-4 record and advance to the state semifinals. The future Bobcat also plays on her high school’s basketball, cheer, track and volleyball teams.

Roberts competes on the club scene for Classics Elite ECNL under the direction of coach Owen Collie. Twice she has found the back of the net for the squad with one coming last season and another this year.

The third youngest of four, Roberts joins her sister Karley (Austin Peay) in playing soccer at the collegiate level. Their dad Chris is a special teams analyst at I-35 rival UTSA.

Conner on Roberts: “As a defender, Kate is a highly versatile player and a student of the game. She is smart and quick. Kate will be able to help not only shut down attacks but create attacks from the back line.”
