*CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System recalled their original announcement and issued the following in its place.*

CHRISTUS Health and AdventHealth have agreed on the terms of a binding definitive agreement under which Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) in San Marcos, Texas, along with its subsidiaries, will become part of the CHRISTUS Health system.

The transaction is expected to be complete in the spring of 2020.

“We welcome the CTMC employees and physicians as they join the CHRISTUS family of more than 45,000 associates and over 15,000 physicians who provide individualized care in communities across Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and in Latin America. Our organizations share a common mission to Extend the Healing Ministry of Jesus Christ and a commitment to making communities healthier by delivering exceptional quality, faith-based and compassionate health care no matter the ability to pay,” said Ernie Sadau, President/CEO of Irving-Texas based CHRISTUS Health.

“The addition of CTMC to our family of hospitals further demonstrates our commitment to keeping exceptional health care close to home.  We are thrilled to work with the community of San Marcos and surrounding communities. With hospitals in San Antonio, New Braunfels and now San Marcos we are better positioned to serve all in the rapidly growing communities in South and Central Texas.”

Over the next few months CHRISTUS Health and AdventHealth will work together to ensure a smooth transition process for CTMC and its patients, physicians and team members.

“CTMC has been a very important part of AdventHealth for many years, and the caregivers and employees have worked hard to fulfill our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ in the San Marcos area. Over time we’ve realized that the interests of CTMC and the community it serves would benefit from the hospital joining a strong health system with a robust regional network,” said Terry Shaw, President/CEO of AdventHealth.

“CTMC is committed to providing excellent care to the San Marcos community, and this transition will best position CTMC to continue to deliver quality care as part of a network of health care facilities in the state,” said Anthony Stahl, president/CEO of Central Texas Medical Center.

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals. Until the transaction is complete, CTMC will continue to be part of the AdventHealth system.

  1. I truly enjoy being an ill person to be able to spend a couple or so nights at the CTMC …

To have access to the modern equipment, the loving care of the staff and the good food is so very upbeat to wellness… I have suffered with the “Ghost of Valley Fever” since the 1980’s. Being a Carrier of a dormant disease gets very exciting at times… the weather will change and Cocci germs wake up and decide to take a look around the weakest link in my chain which happens to be my lungs…after it runs it course of two to three months, the germ goes back to being dormant….I have looked and questioned for a Infectious Disease clinic and am told only in the Desert of New Mexico and AZ and CA …The Bakersfield Clinic has a several month waiting list for an appointment….as do the clinics in AZ and New Mexico.. I contacted the CDC for Texas and was advised there were no cases reported for this illness….That is not true….It is being mis diagnosed and improperly treated .. It is of my opinion the SM Corridor should have an Infectious Disease testing center staffed with physicians who really know what the disease is and how to detect it. And administer the proper medication…..
