Special Kyle City Council Election Early Voting To Begin Next Week

Staff Reports

The City of Kyle will hold a special election on January 25 to fill an unexpired City Council seat for District 6.

The seat was held by Daphne Tenorio; Tenorio resigned in November to run for the office of Hays County Tax Assessor-Collector.

Two candidates, Michael Tobias and Brandy Heindl, filed to run for the city council seat.

Tobias has served as a law enforcement officer with Travis County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years. Tobias has called Kyle home for the 15 years and has children in the Hays Consolidated Independent School District.

Heindl has lived in Kyle for 12 years.

Early voting for the special election begins on Jan. 8 and runs through Jan. 21. The Hays CISD administration building will be the only polling location for Early Voting and Election Day Voting.

The candidate who wins the special election will serve the remainder of Tenorio’s unexpired term before returning to the ballot in November 2021.
