Summer Camp Registration Opens For Residents

Registration for residents for the Summer Fun Program and the Discovery Camp program through the City of San Marcos will open April 3. Non-residents will be able to register beginning April 24.

Summer Fun

Summer Fun will be a five-day program, MondayFriday. Camp will begin at 7:30 a.m. and lasts until 5:30 p.m. The two school sites for 2017 are Crockett and DeZavala Elementary Schools.

Campers will participate in board games, basketball, crafts, and one field trip per week, which is all included in the price. Summer Fun also partners with Texas State University for physical education. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by San Marcos CISD.

The Summer Fun program will begin on Monday, June 12. There are 8 weeks of the program, with no camp on July 4 and a week off July 10- 14. The last day of camp will be Friday, Aug. 11.  Cost for residents is $32/week and $50/week for non-residents, which can be paid weekly.

The fee for residents for the entire program is $250 and $395 for non-residents. This camp is for ages 7-14 (six-year-olds can be accepted if they have completed the first grade).

Discovery Camp

Discovery Camp will also be a five-day program, MondayFriday 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Camp will take place at the San Marcos Rec Hall. There will be two trips per week to the Discovery Center for environmental education, one pool day at Rio Vista Pool and one off-site field trip per week. Each week has a different theme and objectives for the campers:

Week 1- Amazing Race Week

Week 2- Aloha Summer Week

Week 3- Texas Hill Country Week

Week 4- Mayhem Week 1

Week 5- Under the Sea Week

Week 6- Outdoor Adventure Week

Week 7- Mastery Week

Week 8- River Rat Week

Week 9- Mayhem Week 2

Discovery Camp takes place weekly June 12 – Aug. 11. There will be no camp on July 4. Cost for residents is $150/week and $175/week for non-residents. A sibling discount is available. This camp is for ages 5-10 years old. San Marcos CISD will provide a sack lunch.
