Groundbreaking Ceremony Scheduled For Fire Station #4
The new facility will replace the current Fire Station #4, located at 404 Broadway, which opened in 1982 and has both structural and functional shortfalls.
San Marcos officials will hold a ceremony Friday, March 10 at 4 p.m. at 1404 Wonder World Drive to break ground on a $6 million fire station.
The new facility will replace the current Fire Station #4, located at 404 Broadway, which opened in 1982 and has both structural and functional shortfalls.
San Antonio-based Teal Construction Company was awarded the $4.34 million contract in January and estimates construction of the new 11,182 square feet station will take 10 to 12 months.
The new station will have three drive-through apparatus bays and sufficient living and sleeping accommodations for up to ten personnel.
Once the station is completed, it will be able to house a fire engine or ladder truck, a brush truck, and an ambulance.
The new location will greatly improve response capabilities on the rapidly growing east side of IH-35.
The public is encouraged to attend.
