County Officials To Unveil Sign At Jail To Publicize Veterans Court

As part of its ongoing program to assist veterans, Hays County officials will install signage at the County Jail on Monday to help ensure that veterans who are booked into the jail know that they may be eligible to participate in a special Veterans Court program for certain offenses.

Who: Veterans Court Judge David Glickler, Precinct 1 Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe,
Sheriff Gary Cutler and Veteran Services Officer Jude Prather are among those expected to attend and give remarks.
The Veterans Court program is designed to allow non-violent criminal defendants who have specified military service and who meet the program’s eligibility requirements to participate in a wraparound program that will identify their needs, set them up with resources and monitor their progress for up to two years to help reduce recidivism among veterans. The Court helps the veteran-defendant navigate successfully through the justice system and avoid the long-lasting effects of criminal records.
