CASA Seeking Event Sponsors: Support Ciao CASA

CASA of Central Texas invites the community to support the child advocacy organization by sponsoring their annual fundraiser in April.

The non-profit organization will host “Ciao CASA, Una Festa Italiano!” April 8 at 6:30 on the Wurstfest grounds in New Braunfels. Funds raised will go towards recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect.

“The McKenna Foundation believes in the goal of CASA of Central Texas to provide an advocate and friend for every child in crisis,” said McKenna Foundation Executive Director Alice Jewel.  “We offer our support to them through partnership funding, and are proud to support their Ciao CASA event as they raise funds and awareness in the community they serve.”

Individual tickets are available, but the program is also seeking additional sponsors to support the event and organization. Sponsors will receive a reserved table and tickets to the event, as well as recognition leading up to, during, and after the program.

Stuart Shaw, CEO of Bonner Carrington, said Mariposa Apartment Homes at Hunter Road is sponsoring Ciao CASA and has sponsored CASA events throughout the years because of a shared vision.

“Our values are Community, Integrity and Stewardship.  Very simply put, the vision of CASA of Central Texas aligns with our vision and with our values.  We like that,” Shaw said.  “And, we know we can count on CASA of Central Texas to be the best partner possible, to always be a good steward with its resources and to faithfully and honorably live out its vision.”

Shaw said part of the plan for their communities is to participate and become part of the fabric of the greater community.

“CASA of Central Texas is well organized, well managed and well led.  It serves as a beacon of light and hope to so many in the community who otherwise would have no one to advocate for them,” Shaw said.  “We at Mariposa Apartment Homes at Hunter Road have been equally blessed all of these years simply by being part of the CASA team. The reason we remain involved lies in the work accomplished by CASA, in its team of dedicated staff and volunteers and in the lives of families and children impacted by CASA.”

Current sponsors for the event are The GVTC Foundation, the Tomblin Family Foundation, Mariposa Apartment Homes at Hunter Road, The McKenna Foundation, Alligator Dental, Children’s Dental Ark, Christus Santa Rosa Hospital, CMC Steel, H-E-B and Ingram Family Foundation. Information on becoming a sponsor and individual tickets for Ciao CASA may be found online at www.casacentex.org or over the phone at 830.626.2272.

CASA of Central Texas began in 1985 in Comal County with 18 volunteer advocates and the mission to recruit and train volunteers who would provide an objective viewpoint in civil child protection court cases. By 1994 the program expanded into Hays and Caldwell counties and into its fourth county, Guadalupe, in 1996. CASA has grown to more than 200 active volunteers offering a unique service, advocacy for children who have been abused or neglected and are under State protective care.

“I have been the only adult in my child’s life that is always there for him. Placements, schools, teachers, therapists, probation officers – all the adults – are constantly being replaced or changing,” Bob Williams, CASA Volunteer since 2010, said of a child he is appointed to advocate for. “These teens have no stability and no one to trust, except their CASA.”

CASA of Central Texas advocates for abused and neglected children in the court and child welfare system by recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers. In 2015, CASA volunteers served more than 470 children in Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe and Hays Counties, but there were still almost 640 children who did not have the voice of a CASA. More advocates are needed and trainings are held throughout the year.
