Gary Job Corps Celebrates Earth Day, Gives Texas State University Police Appreciation Award

Staff and students participated in the following activates for Earth Week at Gary Job Corps: green trivia games, staff day of walking, Open Mic Night that included: singing, interpretive dance, stand-up comedy, and poetry;  essay contest, poster contest, recycling bin creation contest, and “wear green day” to show support for Earth Day.


Texas State University Police Appreciation Award: Representatives from the Gary Job Corps Center Irma Pardo and Randolph Goodman presented the Texas State Police Department with a token of Appreciation from the Gary Job Corps Community Relations Council.

The Gary Community Relations Council recognized the TSU Police for their service to the community and to the citizens of San Marcos.

The Gary Job Corps Corrections/Security Cadets have assisted the TSU Police with many University projects over the last 10 years, Chief Jose Banales, stated of the partnership “ the Cadets performed professionally during our recent “Riverfest Festivities”, I look forward to a further partnership with Student Graduations and TSU Football Games.”

In addition to assisting the TSU Riverfest, the Cadets assisted with “Founders Day in Dripping Springs, Old Settlers Music Festival in Driftwood, upcoming  projects are Cinco de Mayo at Rattler Stadium (May 5-6), and Martindale Fiesta Jamaica (June2-4).
