Texas State Hosts Sunbelt Outdoor Track & Field Championships This Weekend

SAN MARCOS, Texas –
This weekend the Sunbelt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships comes to Texas State starting on Friday and ending Sunday evening at the Bobcat Track & Field Stadium.

The women’s team is looking to complete the Triple Crown after winning the cross country and indoor title earlier in the academic year. The Bobcats will also be going for their second straight outdoor championship and fifth consecutive SBC title overall.

Chelsie Decoud is aiming to cap off her Sun Belt career with her fourth straight high jump title. Individuals also going for repeats are Tramesha Hardy (100m & 200m), T’Mond Johnson (shot put) and Devina Schneider (3000m steeplechase). The men’s 4x100m and 4x400m relays enter the championships as the two-time defending champions in each.

Texas State heads into the meet with 50 top 10 marks in the Sunbelt. Holding top spots in the conference are Alvin Chikaeze (triple jump), Naomi Ferdinand (long jump), Mylana Hearn (triple jump), Esther Oyetunde (800m), Sydni Willis (400m hurdles), Hardy (200m & 400m), Johnson (shot put) and both women’s relays.

Live results will be available with a link on the schedule page. The meet will also be streamed on ESPN3 with live coverage of the running events and highlights of the decathlon, heptathlon and field events. Providing commentary will be Texas State’s own Brant Freeman.

Tickets can be purchased online in advance while students with an ID from a Sunbelt school can get in for free.
