Traffic Alert: Buda Reminds Residents Of Temporary Street Closures For Veterans Day Parade

“Veterans Day coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I.”

On Saturday, November 10, Main Street, between FM 2770 and San Antonio St., will close at 8:45 AM for the Veterans Day Parade.

Residents will not be able to access Main Street from China Street, Peach Street, FM 967, Ash Street, or Elm Street throughout the duration of the parade.

Main Street is expected to be reopened by 9:30 AM Railroad St., and Bluff St. will remain open during the parade.

According to military.com, the holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country’s service and was originally called Armistice Day; it fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I.

However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to “Veterans Day” in order to account for all veterans in all wars.
